2 Simple Gua Sha Techniques to Give You Flawless Skin
There is one goal most every woman has as we grow through life: to have immaculate skin. Not only is your skin our largest organ, it’s also a direct reflection of our inner health as well. Thanks to perfectly-curated social feeds and over-edited magazine ads, our idea of “perfect skin” can sometimes feel out of reach. (A little reminder that skin is meant to have texture and no one actually has zero pores.) I, myself, even struggle with breakouts, redness and some morning puffiness.
Luckily, by using these simple and effective gua sha techniques, having healthy, flawless skin is at the tip of your fingers. We are talking contour and minimizing fine lines.
Two Simple Gua Sha Techniques for Flawless Skin
We call this one, the “Gua Sha Contour & Go!” Before anything, we highly recommend you massage a facial oil (like the pumpkin seed serum) on your fresh face before you gua sha - it’s important to have a lubricated face so your tool gently glides on your skin instead of pulling your skin.
To start, hold two fingers on your chin to minimize the pulling of your skin. With your other hand, take your gua sha tool (if you don’t have one yet, here is our go-to facial gua sha tool - we know you will fall in love with) flat against your jawline and gently slide from your chin upwards to your ear. With slight pressure wiggle the tool under your ear and then slide down your neck to your collarbone. Do this 5-10 times for optimal results. What you are doing is engaging lymphatic drainage flow and allowing your skin to breathe.
For the second technique, hold just under your temple (you guessed it, to minimize the pulling of skin) to prep for sculpting your cheekbones! This time you will use the edge of your gua sha tool. Find the sweet spot between your actual bone and your jawline (hint: it’s your cheek) and use your gua sha to wiggle and massage with moderate pressure. Do this 5-10 times as well for best results.

What we love about gua sha is the before and after - you can typically see results within moments of performing this ritual on yourself. (Especially if you do both techniques on one side of your face, you can compare it to the other side and truly see the difference in appearance!) Plus, this routine should take no more than 8-10 minutes and can be done in the morning or before bed - it’s effortless!
Our current obsession: after we gua sha, we apply this naturally plumping lip treatment and this face balm for a fresh-faced look (our version of filtered.. but for real life).
