What is LED Light Therapy and What Are the Benefits?
New service alert! You may have heard about the rise in LED light therapy tools on TikTok or your favorite health guru’s podcast - and it’s not just a trend. LED light therapy is here to stay, and we’re warning you, you’re about to be obsessed.
Today we’re sharing the details of LED light therapy and the benefits you can expect from this new service at Health Resonates.
What is LED Light Therapy?
Though LED light therapy can be used on all body parts, its primary focuses are skincare, promoting anti-aging, and reducing inflammation/pain. Its benefits also include increasing the amount of collagen in the skin, which can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Some other reasons to use LED light therapy are acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, scarring, or sun damage.
Here at Health Resonates, our LED light therapy sessions are the perfect service to book on it’s on or add it to any facial or massage! The sessions last between 20-30 minutes, and when enjoying it as a solo service, they are the perfect time to get in a meditation - whether to our music or your own! You can also bring headphones and listen to your favorite meditative playlist, a podcast, or even your book on audible. We love habit-stacking. Just remember to put your phone on “do not disturb.”
Different Types of LED Light Therapy
Do you know how there are different wavelengths in the visible light spectrum? Each wavelength corresponds to different colors and penetrates the skin in different depths. It is thought that LED light produces other effects depending on the skin level it penetrates.
The most common frequencies used in LED light therapy are the red and blue wavelengths, probably the ones you’ve seen mostly on social media. These are easily absorbed into the skin and don’t contain harmful ultraviolet light.
The red light is used to treat the outermost layer of skin, your epidermis. The fibroblast cells responsible for producing collagen proteins are then stimulated using LED light therapy. The increase in collagen production can make the skin look smoother, which can help shrink the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Blue light, for example, targets the oil glands in the deeper skin layers. By reducing the amount of oil that these glands produce, which in turn could lead to fewer acne breakouts - *add to cart right now!*
