Winter to Spring - Skincare Transition
Spring is here, and Anna is sharing switches that can be implemented for your spring skin care. Your skin has different needs for each season, and it’s time to move past that winter skincare routine to prepare for the months ahead.
My first recommendation for winter to spring skincare routine is to swap out those heavy moisturizers and creams for lightweight moisturizers to reduce the amount of oil on your skin. Warm weather and higher humidity levels will help your sebaceous glands produce more oil. We also tend to turn down heat sources that have been drying us out all winter. So, naturally, your skin will be more hydrated this time of year. Heavy moisturizers can make your skin feel greasy or even cause breakouts in the springtime.
My go-to spring Moisturizer: Glymed Plus Oxygen Treatment Cream- it’s light enough that my skin can breathe in the warmer weather but leaves my skin feeling fully moisturized. Plus, there are the added benefits of oxygenating my cells.
With our skin texture adjusting to an easier climate, it’s essential we exfoliate off dead skin from the winter months. This will help with overall texture and clogged pores and give your skin more breathability. We recommend adding our Green Papaya Lime Mask once or twice a week. This can be used as an overnight exfoliating serum. But it on before your moisturizer and wake up with refreshed skin.
Washing your face when needed throughout the day and double cleansing at night. Warmer weather means being outside more often, which exposes our skin to dirt, pollution, and other impurities. Especially if you are outside doing your favorite activities like bike riding or hiking. Sweating opens our pores to let out bacteria, oil, and toxins. If you’re not washing your face afterward, your pores absorb that right back in. A double cleanse at night is a MUST during the spring and summer months.
My go-to Double Cleanse: Best Skin Ever Seabuckthorn removed with damp reusable cotton rounds followed by Glymed Plus Gentle Facial Wash.
We can’t forget SPF. This is an everyday, all-year skincare product, but if you aren’t already doing that, this is your reminder to add it in now. Sunscreen helps protect against photoaging, cellular DNA damage, and hyperpigmentation, so you should wear sunscreen daily as part of your skincare routine. To prevent sunburn, reduce the risk of skin cancer, and decrease the likelihood of early skin aging. My favorite is Glymed Plus Photo-Age Sunscreen 30+, which doubles as an anti-aging moisturizer!
